There were also a few good African leaders when the African countries first gained their independence from Britian and France. Although Super Power rivalry at the time (US vs the Soviet Union) saw most of them toppled in military coups.
Ghana was one fairly successful African country. And also Mauritius and perhaps Djibouti.
Mozambique is currently on the rise as an African success story, and Liberia new woman president is doing a good job rehabilitating her country (which was originally founded by black American slaves after they were emancipated in the late 1800s).

On a smaller scale, many of the Carribean island states have a good history of democratic rule by black leaders.

Look at South Africa, my dear. A very tolerant fellow, that man, who got out of prison after a quarter of a century, won a Nobel Peace Prize, and did not slaughter the white people despite all the claims that he would, turned things around for his whole nation, both politically and economically. You know who I mean and just don’t want to admit it. But for those who don’t — it’s Nelson Mandela. Check him out on Wikipedia or Google. He’s quite remarkable. So would a President Obama be if we gave him a chance and did not let race hatred prevent him from taking the presidential stage. If you’re still afraid of him because his father came from Kenya, take heart. On his mother’s side, his ancestors come from Ireland. In fact, an Irish singer named Shay Black has created a lovely song celebrating that fact. It’s called "There’s No One as Irish as Barack O’Bama" and you can hear him sing it on YouTube. The chorus goes: O’Leary, O’Reilly, O’Hare and O’Hara, /There’s no one as Irish as Barack O’Bama! / From the ol’ Blarney Stone to the green hills of Tara, / There’s no one as Irish as Barack O’Bama!"

What do you mean "you people"? There are plenty of "us people" who have made great strides to improve not only America but other countries as well. Just look at South Africa and America, as well. They may did not "defeat the white man" but they still made a difference. Why should we have to prove anything to you anyway? It is so sad that such blatant ignorance still exists in America.

Yes the only one i can think who was half black and white surprise! Gen Batista who when was in charge of Cuba had the 3rd leading economy in the world than a white Spaniard took over his name : Fidel Castro EDIT: Nelson Mandela ROFLMAO he ruined South Africa the only good thing out of that was the end of Apartheid just ask some Qs in the South African section of YA youll see

I read an interesting article last night talking about how Obama’s camp is acknowledging appalachian anti-black thinking and working against this kind of thinking.

In rural virginia, they are telling voters "you can have a black friend in the white house or another white enemy."

That really sums it up.
